A person walking on a hot city street

Prescribe for the air and the heat

Heat, smoke, and storms change what a safe exercise prescription looks like. Learn to read the forecast as a clinical variable.

A protected bike lane on a city street

Audit the neighborhood

Walk the streets your patients use. Sidewalks, bike lanes, and parks decide whether a home program is possible at all.

A community council meeting

Cut emissions, then advocate

Measure the clinic's own footprint and trim it. Then take the evidence to the meeting where the decision that outlasts a hundred prescriptions gets made.

About the course

HSS III is the third course in the BrainSmith Health Systems Science series. It looks at the environment around the patient and around the clinic. Across four modules you will cover planetary health and the Anthropocene, the built environment and active transport, sustainable clinical operations, and climate justice and community advocacy. Each module pairs a short video with a ten question knowledge check, and the course ends with a final quiz. About 48 minutes of video. Included with your BrainSmith membership.
